For this week's blog I've decided to talk about something I use almost every day; coconut oil! I love this product because it's cheap but loaded with possibilities, which is great for college students. Here are three of my favorite ways to use it.
1. Makeup remover - I absolutely love using coconut oil as makeup remover because it is so gentle. It takes the makeup off so easily without tugging at the skin too hard. I've tried makeup wipes in the past and they just do not work as well. They pull at the skin around my eyes and they always seem to cause breakouts for my sensitive skin (which college students get enough of already between the late nights and stress). Using coconut oil is a great alternative because it is highly effective while being mild at the same time.
2. Moisturizer - Coconut oil is jam packed with moisturizing properties. I love using it on my legs especially for a post-shave balm. I tend to get dry skin often around my knees and elbows, especially living in upstate NY. Using coconut oil on these areas saves my dry skin! My skin drinks it right up leaving it silky smooth.
3. Hair Mask - This may be my favorite way to use coconut oil. My hair tends to get very dry and brittle especially in the cold months. So what I like to do is completely saturate my hair in coconut oil, wrap it up in a bun and sleep with it on all night. I cover my pillow in a towel so the oil doesn't get all over my pillow.
